I am continuing to work with the Beautiful Teaching company this fall to offer online professional development opportunities for classical educators. I encourage all who are interested to join me for one of these upcoming courses.
Teaching History Classically will be offered on Tuesday, October 10th, from 5-7 PM Central Time. This class will consider how to teach history in a way that compliments the aims and ethos of a classical school. Practical tips about class design and assessment will be provided.
A Mimetic Approach to Poetry will be offered on Saturday, November 4th, from 9-11 AM Central Time. This class will explore what it means to teach poetry as an art form. Ideas for teaching students to write poetry - rather than always writing about poetry - will be shared.
I will also be hosting a series of courses entitled Snapshots of the Literary Tradition. These hour-long courses are designed to explore the central themes of a number of key literary texts, and provide some suggestions about how best to approach these works in class. All classes will run on Tuesday nights, from 6-7 PM Central Time. The schedule for these classes is:
Antigone - November 7th
King Lear - December 12th
Rime of the Ancient Mariner - January 23rd
Crime and Punishment - February 20th
1984 - March 12th
